let me clarify: I’ve watched a good many trans*/genderqueer/neuter folk go off on people who were just naive. Not everyone is brought up with the knowledge that sex and gender are different, or that gender comes in more varieties than stereotypical male and stereotypical female.

It’s unnecessary to write 3 paragraphs of misaimed anger at someone who’s a little uninformed when it would contribute more overall to just type “google it” or give a link to one of the many, many websites on these sort of uncommonly-spoken-of topics

almost nobody at this point is raised with the knowledge of how sex and gender are assigned, including trans* people

yes, some trans* people do try their best to teach and educate everyone and make the world a better place, and one great way to do that is to assume people aren’t malicious and give them links and shit. that’s awesome. 

however, if a trans* person gets upset about something and says so, that does not mean that that trans* person either wants OR needs to do jack shit to “contribute” anything “overall.” don’t expect every member of an oppressed group to be the pr rep of that group. it’s one of the most basic ways a marginalized group is oppressed.

 i can get mad and tell someone what they said was wrong and fucked up and i can wax eloquently angry about it if i damn well want to. i do not have to be the face of trans* rights. and if it makes someone upset? well maybe they should be upset. i can guarantee they are not nearly as upset as the place the rant that hurt their feelings came from.

I’m not expecting *every* member to be a pr rep; I made the post because I’ve seen multiple people snap with practically no provocation. Yeah, it’s within their rights to be upset over anything they want to be upset about, but that doesn’t mean I won’t think they’re a douche for pissing on innocent-but-uneducated people.
