the thing to the left is awkward as hell. the wolf to the right is still pretty weird but at least the style has a direction it’s trying to go in instead of the weird awkward wanna be realistic but not really thing to the left.

I only wish drawing women “unattractive to make a statement” gave you popularity. I’d be swimming in pageviews and comments.
Drawing a woman who “isn’t attractive enough” is considered ~a sin~ for the same reason that a woman being “not attractive enough” is considered ~terrible.~ Because people are misogynistic pricks. You just have to ignore people who whine because you don’t draw tits that are big enough to jerk off to.
OK ive seen some artists take their time with commissions, personally i dont mind waiting myself because i know i will get somthing good in the end. Recently i came across a post about someone waiting on a commission but the artist that took the commission has 50+ commissions to do, i read the comments that were left on that confession and checked out the artists in question
I must say im appalled by them, the journals they made complaining about it.First off you DONT take on more commissions you can handle, you dont play the likes of MINECRAFT or any other steam game instead of doing your commissions
you DONT constantly post adopables instead of doing your commissions
it is your own fault if you get overloaded and people start complaining
i feel bad for anyone waiting on commissions from these artists whom i wont mention
because it seems your only going to be left waiting on them by the looks of things!-submitted by Anonymous
while i agree artists shouldn’t overload themselves with more work they can handle i’m gonna play devil’s advocate: adoptables are an easy, quick way of earning money. hypothetically, someone might NEED money faster than they can make it with their queued commissions. let’s say you need rent money fast. what would be a less stressful thing to do: sell a couple quick, no pressure adoptables for $5 each or spend hours trying to get ONE commission done, a commission which wouldn’t be enough to pay your rent alone, a commission that you might have to spend days tweaking until your customer is satisfied?
and as for free time, well, just because a commission-based artist chooses their own hours doesn’t mean that they are always or can always be “at work.” depending on real life factors like stress or illness you might not have the energy to draw something. drawing takes work; just because someone’s gotten themselves out of bed and onto the computer doesn’t mean they have enough energy to produce quality work. complaining about an artist having any free time is like showing up at a waitress’s house and asking her why she isn’t at work taking your order.
of course, i dont know anything about the specific artist in question so they could also just be a lazy tool who has year-old commissions unattended to for all i know. i’m just saying that not everyone shirks commissions just to give the middle finger to you personally.

It’s unnatural and looks absolutely stupid.
A stomach does not blush.
Neither do hands, shoulders, knees or BREASTS for that matter.

UGH yea it’s creepy as hell. it’s like they polished the skin in those areas until it was all smooth but also raw and red or like they’re starting to break out in hives or something just AUGHHHHH
Many “kawaii” artists get a lot of attention and commissions, even if their chibis are really amateur. I decided I’m going to make a kawaii account to make money faster and easier. The art is really simple and only takes a few minutes to finish.

this is not a bad idea, i’ve contemplated it myself quite a few times. my job at aywas keeps me pretty busy as far as non-personal art goes right now, but perhaps once I get through my current work I can deviously assume a kawaiidentity…

What you DO own, is the art that YOU DRAW in said style. If someone else happens to really like the style you draw in, and they allow that to influence their work you have no right to get after them for their mimicking because they still had to take the time and use their talents to draw the picture.
The same can be said about colors. You don’t OWN color. You can’t tell people to not have characters with a specific shade of pink and blue hair.
It IS however shameful, to take an artists idea, and act like you came up with the idea on your own. That is rude. But it’s just as rude to assume that someone stole an idea from you in the first place. (for example there are about nine thousand and one white wolf characters that have a sun or moon or star on their foreheads. It doesn’t mean that they all stole the idea from one another they just happened to all have a similar idea.)

“no one can own an art style” uhhh yea i think if you tried to formally publish a (show/graphic novel/etc) done entirely in the mlp style they’d sue the fuck out of you
